Today was an exciting day at the TPS campus as we celebrated the creation of a new raised-bed garden through an incredible community partnership. Thanks to Tools for Schools for building the raised beds and delivering them for us. Dan Harrell with UT Extension shared his expertise in selecting the appropriate soil, vegetables, and flowers. The garden has okra, tomatoes, peppers, jalapeΓ±os, basil, sunflowers, and marigolds. The beds are designed to be both edible and sensory-friendly and will provide opportunities for hands-on learning, healthy eating, and engagement. One of our girls was especially enthusiastic and eagerly helped plant and water each bed while learning about the growing process from Dan. This project is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when organizations come together to invest in our children!
