Columbia Recording Company purchased the famed Quonset hut, here center Oct. 10, 1966, from Owen Bradley in 1962. Columbia proceeded with a 2½ years construction program to build new facilities around the famed hut, which is still in fulltime use.

It was an honor to welcome Mr. John Pell back to Belmont’s campus, where he shared his wisdom and experiences with guitar students at the GIG Museum.

John began teaching at Belmont in 1978 with the launch of the Commercial Music Program and served as Coordinator of Guitar and Bass Studies until 2021. His remarkable career includes recordings with Craig Duncan, Dolly Parton, Chet Atkins, Shel Silverstein, The Nashville Symphony, Burl Ives, National Geographic and Marvin Gaye.

Thank you, John, for inspiring the next generation of guitarists!
