Curb College is excited to announce its continued partnership with CMA Fest, extending the Belmont Showcase experience beyond campus and into Nashville’s live music landscape.

Through this collaboration, CMA Fest provides an opportunity to bring student talent to a large-scale festival audience. Together, the partnership connects classroom learning with real-world application, offering students a direct pathway from showcase to stage.

As part of this continued initiative, the winner of the Country Showcase earns the opportunity to perform at CMA Fest. This year, that opportunity goes to Carlisle Wright! She will be performing at the Tractor Supply Spotlight Stage on June 6th at 11:45 AM - you won’t want to miss it!

Meet this week’s Curb College Student Spotlight, John Mark Robinson, who recently graduated from Belmont University with a degree in Music Business with a Business emphasis.

John Mark is pursuing a career in artist management and artist development. As a member of the Belmont Service Corps Leadership Team, he helped connect students with industry professionals while serving in key support roles at major music events. Through these experiences, he developed a strong ability to work closely with artists and teams in professional, fast-paced environments while maintaining a heart for service and leadership.

John Mark gained hands-on experience in management through internships with Q Prime AF and his most recent role at Activist Artists Management, where he contributed to artist campaigns, social strategy, research, and brand partnership projects. He also worked with the Recording Academy during Grammy Week, assisting with talent and media coordination at high-profile events. These opportunities have strengthened his passion for walking alongside artists in a relational and strategic capacity, helping support both their creative vision and long-term career growth.

A moment for the Curb College representation at Spotify’s Mental Health & Songwriter Summit last month ❤

Dean Brittany Schaffer welcomed guests alongside Spotify’s Head of Songwriter & Publisher Partnerships Jacqueline Ankner, then programming kicked off with “The Unsung Heroes” panel which explored the rejection, comparison, and quiet pressures that come with songwriting and song plugging. Moderated by MusicRow’s LB Cantrell, the conversation featured a full panel of Curb College alumni: Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Gabe Simon (‘11 Music Business/Entrepreneurship), hit songwriter Emily Weisband (‘15 Songwriting), Sony Music Publishing Nashville CEO Rusty Gaston (‘98 Music Business), and founder of Perfect Game Creative Jessi Vaughn Stevenson (‘16 Music Business).

Later in the afternoon, Debbie Carroll, CMA Endowed Chair & Executive Director of Belmont’s Center for Mental Health in Entertainment, moderated the “Creativity on Demand” panel which explored how to live a consistent, balanced, healthy lifestyle while sustaining creative inspiration, pushing back on the idea that one needs to suffer to make great art.

Outside of the sessions, we enjoyed hosting a table for Belmont’s Center for Mental Health in Entertainment and catching up with alumni, current students, and incredible members Nashville’s songwriting community!

Did you know that two Belmont Songwriting students were featured on “Star Search” on Netflix earlier this year? 🌟🎤

Marisa McKaye and Nico Annello performed on the reality talent competition show as vocal duo Stuck In September, featured on Season 1 Episode 8. Since then, they have continued developing exciting projects.

Earlier this month, Stuck in September had their first headlining show at The East Room in Nashville, and today they released their brand new single “Over Again.”

Congratulations to Marisa and Nico on your amazing work!

Congratulations to Curb College Publishing alum Sydney Mathieu, who is executive producer for Audie Award-winning audiobook “Truly!” The project won an Audie Award for Best Non-Fiction Narrator.

“Truly!” is written by Lionel Richie and narrated by Blair Underwood. This memoir revisits Lionel Richie’s chronicles and lessons learned to inspire all who doubt themselves or feel their dreams don’t matter.

In 2025, Sydney also won an Audie Award for Faith-Based Fiction or Non-Fiction as executive producer of “The American Queen”.

We’re so proud of Sydney’s incredible work!

Earlier this month, we were honored to partner with Spotify to host their Mental Health & Songwriter Summit in the Fisher Center!

Nearly 200 members of Nashville’s music industry community, including Belmont students, staff, and alumni, gathered for a day of conversation, resources, and shared experiences centered on mental health in the music industry. From candid panels exploring comparison, pressure, and work/life balance, to opportunities to connect with peers and local organizations, the event was thoughtfully curated to support songwriters.

Partnerships like this are invaluable to the Curb College as we are deeply invested in the well-being of our students and industry professionals as seen through the launch of our new Center for Mental Health in Entertainment. We’re thankful to work alongside many great organizations and companies, including Spotify, to create a healthier, more sustainable industry where everyone can thrive!

Meet this week’s Curb College Student Spotlight, Eunice Lee, who recently graduated from Belmont University with a degree in Sport Administration.

During her time in the Curb College, she served as President of Belmont’s Sport Administration Club. Eunice expanded her global perspective by studying abroad in Barcelona during her sophomore year through the Global Honors program. While abroad, she strengthened her adaptability by navigating a new culture and attending a FC Barcelona match at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc, further fueling her passion for global sport.

Eunice gained experience through four years with Belmont Athletics Game-Day Operations, where she worked as Game Manager. In this role, she oversaw communication with student volunteers, managed shift scheduling, and helped coordinate game-day logistics. In Spring 2026, she finished her second season with Athletes Unlimited, while also interning with PlayMakers Nashville and assisting the Belmont Athletics Student-Athlete Advisory Committee department.

This past semester, Belmont University Producers Association (BUPA) teamed up with nine student organizations from across the Curb College for MUSIC ROW TAKEOVER - a weekend-long songwriting and production camp, hosted at Belmont’s campus on Music Row.

Over the course of a weekend, nearly 200 students filled classrooms, songwriting suites, and recording studios, sharing open studio/recording time. In between these sessions, students hosted an industry seminar with guest speaker and A&R , a Beat Battle sponsored by XLN Audio and Sweetwater, and a song competition “Final Playback” sponsored by Sweetwater, AEG, Music Row Promo, and Image-Line.

We are so proud of our student organization leaders for cultivating a collaborative experience where students could make connections and friendships that will further their careers in the music industry and beyond!
