๐ŸŒŸ Exciting News from the 17th AACR Conference! ๐ŸŒŸ

We are thrilled to share that Lincoln Liburd, 3rd year PhD student, presented his latest research at the AACR Conference on The Science of Cancer Health Disparities in Racial/Ethnic Minorities and the Medically Underserved. His abstract, titled โ€œProteomics Analysis of Enzalutamide-treated Castration-sensitive and Castration-resistant Prostate Cancer Cell Linesโ€, highlights groundbreaking findings in prostate cancer research.

Here are some key findings:

Differential Protein Expression: We identified significant differences in protein expression between castration-sensitive and castration-resistant prostate cancer cell lines when treated with enzalutamide. This suggests that resistance mechanisms may involve specific protein pathways.

Potential Biomarkers: Several proteins were highlighted as potential biomarkers for resistance to enzalutamide. These biomarkers could help in predicting which patients are likely to develop resistance to this treatment.

Therapeutic Targets: The study also identified new therapeutic targets that could be explored to overcome resistance in prostate cancer treatment. Targeting these proteins might improve the efficacy of enzalutamide in resistant cases.

Lincoln would like to give special thanks to the following:
Dr. Victor Paromov and Dr. Josiah Ochieng for their invaluable help with the proteomic runs.
Dr. Siddharth Pratap and Dr. LaMonica Stewart, my co-mentors, for their insights and mentorship.
The Department of Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Neuroscience & Pharmacology team: Dr. Evangeline Motley-Johnson, Ms. Marion Asmah-Addai, and Dr. Samuel Adunyah.
The School of Graduate Studies (SOGS): Dr. Pius Nde, Ms. Angelle Fizer, and Dr. Merry Lindsey.
