If I were preaching, but I’m not… I’d say there’s no better way to start the academic year than with an inspiring message of hope, purpose and possibility.

Our 151st Convocation keynote speaker, Nelson L. Adams III, M.D. ’78, chair of the Meharry Medical College Board of Trustees, reminded our students to believe in themselves, walk boldly in their purpose and know that they can do all things.

And a special message to all of our students: Choose joy. Give yourself grace. Celebrate your growth. Keep going. You belong here, your dreams are worth pursuing and there is so much ahead of you.

Here’s to an academic year filled with purpose, growth, service and JOY!

Today, the Meharry family gathered for our 151st Convocation — continuing one of the College’s most enduring traditions.

Students, faculty, alumni and College leadership came together to celebrate academic excellence, recognize achievement and reflect on the responsibility that comes with a Meharry education.

Nelson L. Adams III, M.D. ’78, chair of the Meharry Medical College Board of Trustees, returned to his alma mater to deliver the Convocation address, sharing a message rooted in faith, responsibility and service.
