The Vanderbilt MSTP Research for All course has officially wrapped up its fifth summer, marking an exciting milestone for the program. After four years of implementing the same foundational curriculum, this summer we piloted an entirely new set of sessions that built on the course’s previous foundation while exploring topics directly relevant to physician-scientists in training. This year also saw the highest attendance in the five-year history of the course, reflecting strong interest from MSTP students.

Our 9 students in the Vanderbilt MSTP Summer Undergraduate Research Program closed out their time with us by presenting their summer research at the Vanderbilt Summer Science Academy Poster Session and completed oral presentations for our MSTP Summer Research Symposium. We invited the summer students’ families to campus for the symposium where they were able to learn more about our program, MD-PhD training, and see the summer students’ research presentations. We are proud of all the summer scholars accomplished this summer!

In July four members of the MSTP Leadership Team, Dr. Chris Williams (Director), Dr. Lourdes Estrada (Associate Director), Dr. Megan Williams (Assistant Director), and Leigh Ann Gardner (Senior Grants Manager) attended the National Association for Clinician Scientist Training (NACST) meeting in Bethesda, MD.

A new MSTP book club, MSTPages, held their initial interest meeting on July 23rd! The group plans to meet approximately every 2 months and will vote on what to read before each meeting. If you are interested in joining or would like to know more information, please reach out to Leigh Ann Gardner.
