Youth Active and Media Savvy (YAMS)

Youth Active and Media Savvy (YAMS) Empowering African American youth to improve their dietary and physical activity behaviors and practices.

The YAMS program is designed for African American children living in Davidson County ages 8 – 14 whom are at risk for adult obesity. Participating youth will learn and engage in culturally-relevant activities that promote:

-Critical Thinking Skills
-Self-Esteem
-Healthful Decision Making
-Healthy Meal and Snack Preparation
-Physical Activities

YAMS aims to equip disadvantaged youth with the knowledge and awareness to make better health and wellness choices.
