SPEAR was invited to join the Planetary Health class through the Center for Sustainability, Energy and Climate on a field trip alongside TSU students!

We visited sites around Nashville to take samples of air and ground temperature to help the class study the urban heat island effect.
While driving around the city, TSU geography professor David Padgett taught us about the social and geographical factors that have contributed to environmental injustice in Nashville.
We were joined by leaders at Urban Green Lab, the Cumberland River Compact, and the Nashville Civic Design Center, who shared environmental justice projects that these groups are working on to help improve this city for future generations.

Thank you to the Planetary Health class for this incredible opportunity!🌍🌳☁️
