Schedule: Full-time

We are seeking a dependable, caring, and experienced Daycare Director to oversee daily operations, support staff, communicate with families, and ensure our center provides a positive learning environment for every child.
Responsibilities include:
• Oversee daily daycare operations and classroom activities
• Hire, train, schedule, and support childcare staff
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment
• Ensure compliance with childcare licensing rules and center policies
• Communicate professionally with parents and families
• Help plan age-appropriate learning activities and curriculum
• Manage records, enrollment information, supplies, and basic administrative tasks
Ideal candidate will have:
• Experience in childcare, early childhood education, or daycare leadership
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
• Knowledge of child development, safety procedures, and licensing requirements
• Ability to work well with children, families, and staff
• Required childcare certifications or director credentials, if applicable
• Four year degree for Early Education, or four years in a childcare setting along with TECTA training.

Position Overview

The Aftercare Coordinator works in the aftercare program on weekday afternoons (2:30 – 5:30 pm) and on days when the school offers conference childcare, twice during the school year. The Aftercare Coordinator helps to create a positive learning environment guided by Montessori philosophy, TN Department of Education regulations, and early childhood developmentally appropriate practices. The Aftercare Coordinator helps identify and meet each child’s development needs.

Qualifications

· The Aftercare Coordinator must hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, one year of experience working with preschool-aged children and/or enrollment in a college-level program studying child development, education, or early childhood education is preferred.

· Ability to meet all local childcare licensing and regulatory requirements.

· Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs. when necessary for child safety and program facilitation.

· Strong ability to build positive, nurturing relationships with young children.

· Prior early childhood teaching experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

· Implements daily indoor and outdoor activities and events.

o Interacts in a respectful and caring manner with the children by actively participating in their play and learning.

o Provides for the health, safety, and developmental needs of children.

o Supervises the children while eating snacks and lunches (when appropriate).

o Supervises the children in the classroom, playground, and during nap time (when appropriate).

· Communicates well and frequently with the other faculty, administration, and parents.

· Identifies each child’s developmental strengths and challenges.

· Designated as a primary point of contact for parental communication during after-care hours.

Guidance & Professional Practice

· Models Montessori teaching practices and Positive Discipline strategies.

· Serves as a mentor to interns, volunteers, and visitors.

· Upholds the Code of Ethics of the American Montessori Society.

Professional Development & Collaboration

· Participates in ongoing professional development to meet licensing and accreditation requirements.

· Attends all required staff meetings, school events, and training sessions.

Operations & Compliance

· Maintains cleanliness and organization of the classroom, shared spaces, and playground.

· Cares for the environment, plus caring, rotating, and storing the materials.

· Follows all school policies and applicable local, state, and national regulations.

· Performs additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Additional Employment Requirements

· Compliance with all health and safety regulations required by Children’s House and governing agencies.

· Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

· Completion of required background checks, including fingerprinting.
