Did you know Trevecca offers a major in Theatre Education? If you’re looking to combine your love of theatre with a desire to make a difference in the lives of young people through creative teaching, our Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Education may be perfect for you!

This degree program rigorously equips students with educational theatre skills that meet the demands of the NTE Praxis exams and certifies students through CAEP with professional licensure to teach theatre to grades K-12.

Trevecca’s theatre education program is a collaborative effort between the Department of Communication Studies and the School of Education. The School of Education collaborates with schools in Middle Tennessee to provide students with observation and teaching experiences to enhance their learning, which culminates in student teaching.

Mark your calendars now for this magnetic season filled with stories that help to guide our way through challenging journeys! We hope you can join us, ready to think, laugh, cry, and share these amazing tales with others this year!

BIG FISH🐟 Edward Bloom is a legendary man whose meme-worthy tall tales of giants, witches, and true love mask a deeper truth—one his pragmatic, cynical son is desperate to uncover. Based on Daniel Wallace’s novel and John August’s screenplay (for the film directed by Tim Burton), this family-friendly Broadway musical is a deeply moving, nostalgic exploration of family legacy, mental health, and living an epic life. Making a splash October 30 thru November 8!

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING 💌 Lurking, gossip, and misunderstanding. Major serotonin, laughs, and relationship goals. It’s all here, and everyone just needs to sort out who’s a fraud and who stays authentic in the most savage and most painfully real of all William Shakespeare’s comedies. The Bard’s iconic “skirmish of wit” drops February 12 thru 21!

PETER PAN AND WENDY 🧚🏻 Renowned playwright Lauren Gunderson reimagines J.M. Barrie’s *Peter Pan,* shifting our focus to bold, budding scientist Wendy Darling who dreams of earning a Nobel Prize. Dipping into the stars, she, Peter, and their squad face down fairies, mermaids, and the infamous Hook while standing their ground for what’s real. Flying high April 23 thru May 2!

MOSAIC 💜 To kick off the year first in September, though, Trevecca’s rousing annual play festival featuring staged readings of original student scripts will be performed by our student actors. For this year’s unique medley of stories, we hope you can join us in support of our emerging playwrights and their imaginative, always thoughtful, and frequently humorous new work. Springing to life September 25 and 26!

Like our theatre education major and our minors in applied theatre and musical theatre, the Bachelor of Arts degree in Dramatic Arts at Trevecca provides students with diverse coursework in theatre; hands-on, skill training; required production work; masterclasses with professional industry guests; internships, both local and abroad; travel seminars; audition workshops; and other great opportunities. The dramatic arts major embraces creative, interdisciplinary collaboration that gestures toward all of art and all of life in its many expressions.

We wrapped the year with Ellen McLaughlin’s harrowing adaptation of Euripides’s THE TROJAN WOMEN, a lament of the tragic aftermath of war for women and children in Ancient Troy and in all wars, even today.

In January, AND THEN THEY CAME FOR ME: REMEMBERING THE WORLD OF ANNE FRANK broke our hearts with its stark reminders of what love looks in the face of cruelty. Wrapping the ‘25-‘26 season at Trevecca Nazarene University, *The Trojan Women* takes us on a deep dive into the aftermath of war, where the women of Troy rise with fierce beauty and brutal honesty in this timeless cry for just treatment and humanity. Experience Ellen McLaughlin’s beautiful translation of this Ancient Greek lament written by Euripides.
