As our "Nashville Women's Drum Collective" continues to grow and gain momentum, we are excited to announce that on September 16th we will be gathering at the White Hall venue in East Nashville. It will allow us to double the size of our drum circle and connection with women who drum and those that have longed to.

Empowering Women's Voices With Rhythm, Connection & Community

This is a community connecting point where drummers of various styles unite with the opportunity to learn and engage, hold space for each other, listen and hear each other‘s voices and honor the rhythm that is uniquely contained within each human being and body.

This is a time and space for women to hold as sacred and to recognize the power that we hold. In our voices and in our ability to reconnect with nature and nurture the way forward for our families, communities, and the world.

Our sacred space is being gently guided and facilitated by Karen Renée Robb, MonAxi Filha da Terra, Nesrin Simsek & special guest facilitator Windship Boyd. Four women who are committed to helping women rise through the power of their voice, rhythm and innate beauty.

We would love for this to be the biggest women-focused drum circle that has ever been gathered in Nashville. Come and be a part and celebrate the power of being a woman. Together we are more powerful and can energetically move mountains.

Don't have a drum (yet)? Don't worry...there will be plenty of drums for everyone to use for the evening.

Wherever we are, sound is emanating, vibrating and affecting us on a deep level.
Sound is sacred. Sound creates. Sound can soothe. Sound unites.

It’s happening again!

The next Evening Of Healing Sound ~
A Transformational CommUnity Experience will be held Wednesday, August 26th from 6:30-8:30pm at White Hall in East Nashville.

Join us for a very special evening of sound, music, energy healing and more to delight your senses and bring peace to your body, mind, and soul. Each experiential concert in the series has featured practices and a long sound journey to guide you back into your body & being ~ leaving you feeling whole, rested, revitalized and renewed.

In addition there will be select Reiki/Energy healers sharing their unique modalities surrounding the hall. You can choose to pay for mini sessions with incredible practitioners while the sound experience unfolds.

This is a Substance Free evening. We encourage you to just come and be in this portal of amazing energy. Feel what the power of sound can do to help you regulate your nervous system. Feel what the power of intentional community can do to help elevate your being, presence and expression in the world. Your mindfulness of this request will help to create a safe environment for everyone who attends.

NO PHOTOS/VIDEOS: Because of the sacred ceremonial nature of what is being co-created, we have determined that it is best to keep this a photo and video-free experience. We want everyone who attends to feel safe, present and immersed in the moment.

We are excited to co-create an experience that will be celebrated and appreciated by the community as an authentic, accessible, compassionate expression where everyone who comes, know that they matter. Because you do!

For anyone that has known for me for at least the last decade, the phrase “you’re the drum lady” has become one of the endearing names I am called in the greater Nashville area (and beyond).

I am recognized - whether it be from people attending classes, seeing me on social media, having a friend to tell them about the woman who sings in a drum, or people being encouraged to meet the drum lady to get their own drum.

What I love about being known as this, is that I bring a simple love and appreciation for the ability of ALL human beings to be drummers. That all of us have an incredible important heartbeat and voice that needs to be felt, heard, lifted up & celebrated.

Helping people remember their true power can come through the simple act of encouraging them to pick up a drum and a mallet and start playing. Simply playing and remembering what it feels like to connect with our own heartbeat. With our own soul. With our own voice. With our Creator.

We are each very powerful beings. And it is time for more people to recognize that. To be lifted up and to lift up themselves through the power of sound vibration. Through the power of a voice that knows it’s worth. Through the power of collective voices sending up prayers for love, peace & harmony.

And so, as this next chapter unfolds with my relationship with Latin Percussion (LP) and the NEW Sound Vibrations Collection, I am committed to being a beacon for the power of the human heart, it’s unique rhythm and purpose to be revealed through the drum and the voices of the drummers.

We are all musicians.
We are all sound vibrational beings.
Here to bring new songs, new innovative ideas and expressions into the world.

For me LP is Love & Peace.

For those of you who are interested in hearing the sounds of the new Latin Percussion Sound Vibrations Collection, there are now videos of each one on the LP YouTube Channel.

I will have all of these instruments for sale this Saturday, August 1st at the Southern Crystal Company in Old Hickory, TN, just outside of Nashville.

I am very limited on the Double Ocean drum, but have more on the way. I may need to create a pre-order/wait list for that one. 🥰🎶🌊

I love helping people find their drum, so I look forward to being with everyone who can stop by the store between 12-5 on Saturday.

THE POWER OF SOUND

Sound originated in the cosmos and brought forth creation. This concept is evident not only in Anishinaabemowin, the Ojibwwe language, but also in aadizookewin (our storytelling).

Since ancient times, aadizookewin has been regarded as a ritual invocation where the storyteller's voice acts as a channel, breathing life into stories (bimaadizi). Consequently, sound is vital in bringing tales to life.

Although I am not an oral storyteller and instead convey stories through writing, sound is a recurring motif in my narratives. Through my written stories and artworks, I delve into Anishinaabe perspectives, incorporating the spiritual significance of sound, sky-beings, and the natural world. My storytelling often links the sound-making of the Thunderbird (sky power) and the loon (water power) to the Midewiwin (Grand Medicine Lodge) traditions, emphasizing the healing powers inherent in these connections.

Ceremonial objects and natural phenomena, such as rattles (zhiishiigwanan), the thunder (animikiii), the popping of miinikaanan or seeds, and the presence of "singing rocks" (asiniig negamowaad), are frequently included, viewing them as living, sounding entities that hold ancient wisdom and healing medicine.
