A new grant will help prepare the next generation of leaders in special education research and practice.

Jason Chow, associate professor of special education at Vanderbilt Peabody College and a member of Peabody’s Early Childhood Research Collaborative, is leading a new five-year doctoral training initiative funded by the U.S. Office of Special Education Programs.

Through the LEAD program, Vanderbilt and its university partners will prepare future scholars to translate research into meaningful improvements for children and families, with a focus on implementation science, special education policy, and family and community engagement.
Chow is also an associate professor in Vanderbilt Health’s Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences and a member of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center.

Join Vanderbilt Peabody Library on Saturday, October 24, from 12:00-3:00 p.m. for a free, family-friendly event celebrating the 10th annual Tennessee STEAM Festival!

This year’s steam train-themed event invites children ages 3 and up and their families to explore science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) through engaging, hands-on activities. Participants will discover connections between engineering and STEAM careers, hear from students about their STEAM learning experiences, and explore Vanderbilt library and university resources.

Nashville nonprofit Recycle & Reinvest will also present a documentary focused on environmental stewardship.
