At last week’s TCAT Upper Cumberland Job Fair, Reconnect Navigator Rhonda connected with attendees and shared how TN Reconnect can support adults returning to college. She also helped clear up common misconceptions about financial aid and Tennessee Promise and provided additional resources for those who may not qualify for the TN Reconnect Grant.

Navigating the path to college takes more than financial support. It takes guidance.

SCORE's newest report, Beyond Financial Aid: How Advise TN Expands Postsecondary Opportunity, highlights how Tennessee's Advise TN program helps students overcome barriers throughout the college-going process and features new research showing the impact of professional advising.

Key findings include:
📈 Advise TN increased postsecondary enrollment by 4 percentage points.
🌟 Hispanic and rural students experienced the largest enrollment gains.
🤝 Students who regularly met with professionally trained advisors enrolled at the highest rates.
📚 Statewide coordination helped ensure consistent, high-quality advising across Tennessee.

As Tennessee continues investing in student success and workforce development, this report demonstrates the important role personalized guidance plays in helping more students achieve their postsecondary goals.

Tennessee is continuing to expand opportunities for students!

At its July Commission meeting, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) approved a new Focused Bachelor's Degree policy that gives institutions the opportunity to develop more streamlined bachelor's degree programs while maintaining high academic standards.

The Commission also advanced new academic programs, workforce initiatives, and policies designed to support student success and strengthen Tennessee's higher education system.

These actions reflect Tennessee's ongoing commitment to creating flexible, high-value pathways that help more students reach their education and career goals.
