Welcome Crystal Mallett, Assistant Principal, to the Chief family!

Dr. Crystal Mallett is an accomplished educational leader with more than 21 years of experience serving students, educators, and families in Louisiana public schools. Her career has included roles as a classroom teacher, librarian, school counselor, lead teacher, and assistant principal, providing her with a unique perspective on teaching, learning, student support, and organizational leadership.

Dr. Mallett earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, a Master of Education in Special Education–Gifted, and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. She holds Louisiana certifications in Elementary Education; Middle School English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies; English (Grades 6–12); Gifted Education (Grades 1–12); and Educational Leadership. She also earned National Board Certification in Early Adolescent English Language Arts, one of the profession's highest distinctions for accomplished teaching.

Dr. Mallett considers it both a privilege and a responsibility to serve students, support educators, and partner with families in creating schools where every learner is known, valued, and empowered to succeed.

💖✨ MEET US MONDAY ✨💖

This week we're introducing the owner and director of Dazzle Dance Center, Ms. Lynda Hammett Dunn! 💃

Ms. Lynda has been dancing since the age of 3 and competing since kindergarten. She trained at Karen Ogden Dance Studio in Sulphur, Louisiana, where she was a member of competitive dance and twirl teams that earned regional and national titles. She continued her dance career as a member of the Northwestern State University Demon Dazzlers.

🎓 Education:
✨ Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts – Louisiana Scholars' College at NSU
✨ Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration – LSUS
✨ Bachelor of Science in Accounting

🩰 With over 15 years of teaching experience, Ms. Lynda teaches ballet, tap, jazz, clogging, acro, and hip hop. She is certified through Dance Masters of America in ballet, tap, jazz, and acro and is a proud member of Louisiana Dance Masters of America. She is also certified through Acrobatic Arts, one of the world's leading acro training programs.

🏆 Throughout her career, Ms. Lynda has choreographed numerous award-winning competition routines, pageant talents, and opening numbers. Her students have earned top overall awards, choreography awards, entertainment awards, and talent awards. She has also taught workshops across Louisiana, judged dance competitions throughout the South, and served as a judge for middle school, high school, and college dance team tryouts.

What Ms. Lynda loves most is helping dancers grow in confidence, develop strong technique, and create memories that last a lifetime. 💖

We're so thankful for her dedication to our dancers and the DDC family! ✨
