From Las Vegas to the NSU classroom, cybersecurity lessons are coming home!💻
This August, NSU CIS Professor Dr. Jason Powell and three CIS students, Justin Dysarz, Seth Thurman, and Brady Benoit, traveled to Las Vegas to attend DEF CON 34, one of the world’s largest cybersecurity conferences.
From Capture the Flag competitions to hands-on experiences in operating systems, packet analysis, hardware, and cybersecurity, the group returned with new knowledge they’re ready to put into practice.
Their biggest takeaway? The strongest cybersecurity professionals understand both software and hardware.
With a Linux distribution project ahead and plans to return next year, this is just the beginning.
