Flashback Friday – October 1983

More than 40 years ago, IU Southeast faculty member Dr. John Moody was recognized with a prestigious Gravenmeyer Award for developing an innovative individualized learning program. His approach gave students multiple ways to engage with course material, allowing them to learn at their own pace and according to their individual learning styles.

The program proved highly successful, with students demonstrating strong understanding of the material while benefiting from a more personalized educational experience. Dr. Moody's work reflected IU Southeast's long-standing commitment to innovation, student success, and finding new ways to meet learners where they are.

When Cylin George transferred to IU Southeast, she had never seen the campus.

After a scholarship change altered her plans, she chose IU Southeast to pursue her degree while minimizing student debt. What followed was a transformative experience that included serving as a Resident Assistant, interning with Humana, earning her degree in Informatics, and building a successful career in technology leadership.

Recently, Cylin met with Josh Suiter, Director of Alumni Engagement, to share her journey, discuss future career goals, and explore ways to stay engaged with IU Southeast and fellow alumni.

It's always great to welcome alumni back to campus.

Earlier today, Josh Suiter, Director of Alumni Engagement, had the opportunity to catch up with Logan Stephens, BA in Journalism and Media '20.

Logan currently serves as Director of Sports Information at Indiana Tech and previously worked at IU Southeast as Assistant Athletic Director. While his career has taken him to Fort Wayne, he'll always be a Grenadier.

We love seeing our alumni return to campus and hearing about the incredible things they're accomplishing. Thanks for stopping by, Logan. It was great to see you.

Today, we are excited to welcome our first New Student Orientation group from the Class of 2030 to IU Southeast.

As these future Grenadiers begin their college journey, they are taking their first steps toward becoming part of a vibrant community dedicated to learning, leadership, service, and success. We look forward to seeing how this class embraces its Grenadier Spirit, builds meaningful connections, and leaves its mark on our campus in the years ahead.

This is the first of six orientation groups that will visit campus throughout the summer as we prepare to welcome our newest students this fall.

Earlier today, Josh Suiter, Director of Alumni Engagement at IU Southeast, met with IU alumnus Reny Keener, Town Manager of Georgetown, Indiana, to discuss his career journey and opportunities for collaboration between the Town of Georgetown and IU Southeast.

From growing up in Wi******er, Indiana, to leading community development efforts in Georgetown, Reny's story highlights the power of higher education, public service, and community leadership. Since becoming Town Manager in 2023, he has secured between $3.5 million and $4 million in grant funding while helping shape Georgetown's future through strategic planning and major infrastructure projects.
