IU Southeast alumnus Luke Growe finished his bachelor’s degree in Informatics and Computer Networking in August, but his career was already taking off before he graduated.

Today, Luke met with Josh Suiter, Director of Alumni Engagement, over coffee to talk about his IU Southeast experience and the professors, advisors and internship opportunities that helped him reach his dream job.

After completing multiple internships while earning his degree, Luke is now working full time as an AI Solutions Engineer, designing and deploying AI and software solutions that address real business needs.

“This is my dream job,” Luke said.

A special thank you to Luke for taking the time to share his story and for the thoughtful gift he gave Josh during their visit.

IU Southeast was out in the community this week, connecting with the people and organizations that make Southern Indiana such a great place to learn, work and grow.

Our team was pleased to attend several events that brought together community partners, alumni, current students, business leaders, donors and friends of the university, including:

One Southern Indiana’s Pearls of Wisdom series, providing an opportunity to connect with leaders and partners from across the region.

The 40th Anniversary Celebration of ProMedia Group, an IU Southeast alumni-owned business and valued community partner that has provided internship and career opportunities for many IU Southeast students and graduates.

IBJ’s Innovate Southern Indiana, featuring IU President Pamela Whitten as a panelist alongside regional leaders discussing innovation, growth and the future of Southern Indiana.

A Celebration of Indiana University, an IU campaign event where we had the opportunity to welcome and connect with alumni, donors and friends of the university.

We’re proud to be part of a region where strong partnerships create opportunities for our students, our alumni and our communities. Thank you to everyone who welcomed us this week and continues to support IU Southeast.

Flashback Friday: In November 1998, The Horizon looked back at a major milestone in IU Southeast history: the 25th anniversary of the New Albany campus.

The article recalled the university’s move from Jeffersonville to New Albany and the development of the new campus beginning in the late 1960s. It also highlighted the people who helped shape IU Southeast during those early years, including former Chancellor Edwin Crooks.

The accompanying aerial photo, taken in 1975, offers a fascinating look at a campus still taking shape, before the construction of Knobview Hall and the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center and shortly after the completion of Life Sciences and Hillside Hall.

Nearly three decades after this article appeared, the campus continues to grow and change while building on the work of generations of Grenadiers who came before us.

IU Southeast alumna Emily Muncy, BS in Business ’26, recently met with Josh Suiter, Director of Alumni Engagement, over coffee to reflect on her time as a Grenadier and share where she hopes to go next.

From living on campus and balancing classes with working 20–30 hours a week to completing three internships, Emily found a community at IU Southeast that became her “home away from home.”

Today, she’s building her career in marketing and business development while pursuing a goal of landing a full-time role in marketing or event planning. Her ultimate dream? Working in the music industry in Nashville.

IU Southeast alumna Barbara Popp, BS in Business ’97, met with Josh Suiter, Director of Alumni Engagement, over lunch today to reflect on a connection to IU Southeast that stretches back to the university’s former Jeffersonville location.

A first-generation college graduate, Barbara experienced IU Southeast during a transformational time. She was a member of the first women’s basketball and softball teams, a founding member of Sigma Kappa and an active participant in the Student Foundation.

Her involvement didn’t stop after graduation. Barbara went on to help establish the IU Southeast Alumni Association, serve in leadership roles with the IU Alumni Association, support the Ogle Center campaign and build a successful career as a Southern Indiana business and real estate leader.

For Alex Wolf, B.S. in Business ’14, IU Southeast provided much more than a college degree. It gave him relationships that continue to be part of his life more than a decade later.

From faculty who helped prepare him for his career to lifelong friendships through Tau Kappa Epsilon, Alex found a community at IU Southeast. It’s also where he met his wife, Sarah, an Alpha Phi.

Today, those connections remain strong. Alex stays in touch with his fraternity brothers, returns to campus to connect with current students and even works alongside three fellow IU Southeast alumni.
