The Seven Liberal Arts were never meant to be just subjects in a classroom.

They were a blueprint for building a better man.

Grammar taught a man to communicate clearly.
Rhetoric taught him to persuade responsibly.
Logic taught him to separate truth from nonsense.

Because if a man cannot think clearly, every lesson that follows is built on a weak foundation.

Then came the higher arts.

Arithmetic taught the language of number.
Geometry revealed order and proportion.
Music showed harmony in time.
Astronomy revealed the patterns and movements of the heavens.

Together, they taught something deeper than information.

They taught discipline.

They taught observation.

They taught a man how to think before teaching him what to think.

Freemasonry inherited this tradition because the Craft has never been about collecting facts.

It's about shaping character.

A Mason should strive to speak truthfully, reason carefully, measure accurately, seek harmony, and never stop looking upward toward greater Light.

The Seven Liberal Arts are not relics of the past.

They're tools.

And like every tool in Masonry, they only work when you pick them up and use them.
