Central has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO). It is one of less than 30 institutions in the country to be designated both as a CAE-CO and as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD). This gives students the unique opportunity to start their degree in Cybersecurity and choose which specialty best aligns with their developing interest rather than being limited to just one option.

Central offers more than 100 undergraduate majors in over 80 fields of study for students seeking undergraduate & graduate degrees and continuing studies opportunities.

Central's CS Department is hiring for two tenure track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Computer Science: Cybersecurity starting in Spring or Fall 2025. Central was just designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO). This makes it the first institution in New England that is both a center of Cyber Operations and Cyber Defense. The CS Department offers an ABET-accredited CS program and MS in Software Engineering.

CCSU will be hosting a cybersecurity camp July 18th through July 22nd, 2022. The camp is aimed at rising 7th-12th graders as an opportunity to learn about the cybersecurity field and careers through hands-on activities led by CCSU faculty and industry experts. This GenCyber camp is being sponsored by the National Security Agency (NSA) and is free for accepted students. Applications must be submitted by Sunday, May 15th.

The Central Connecticut State University GenCyber Cybersecurity Summer Camp is based on the national GenCyber initiative to create and inspire the next generation of cybersecurity students. Congratulations to CCSU students on advancing 54 students to the quarterfinals in the national cybersecurity Cyber FastTrack program. That ranks CCSU #1 in Connecticut (29 universities and colleges participated), and #3 nation-wide. Special congratulations to Chelsea Buddle who has made it to the final round! Wednesday 11/7 in Vance Academic Center 105 at 6:30 pm the CS and MIS clubs will be hosting an Aetna presentation on Cybersecurity concepts in the real world. This will include what cyber attacks Aetna encounters, how they prevent or mitigate damage from them, what they learn from them, what technologies they are actively pursuing to help increase cyber security in their systems, what security goes into cloud based systems and how that differs from on-premise security, etc.
