After 36 years of service to our department, Tom Getty, music accompanist, is moving on! He received his Bachelor’s in Music from Mason Gross in the 1980s in the FIRST graduating class of that program 🥲❣️

🩰 He dabbled in opera, choreography, and even ballet dance himself (at Princeton Ballet School!) but stuck with piano, and continued to play for dance classes at Mason Gross and beyond. “If I’m going to miss anything, it’s the sense that I wasn’t just playing classes. I felt like I was part of a wonderful collaboration - challenging, inspiring, and always fun.”

Thank you for your hard work across the decades, Tom! You will be missed! 🌹

🌿 Read below to find out what the talented Pam Tanowitz (Assistant Professor at Mason Gross Dance), has been up to off-campus this spring! (Spoiler alert: it is a LOT)

🌻 She created a new ballet for Miami City Ballet’s “American Dance Odyssey”! Featuring new original music by Michael Abels, performed by the New World Symphony, it debuted in April at Miami Beach

🌷In April, another one of Pam’s pieces was performed by Juilliard dancers in Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall. The piece was nspired by fire, water, air, and earth, riffed on baroque dance suites, and collaborated with baroque violinist, Leila Schayegh

🌺 ! THIS MAY, Pam has TWO upcoming events…!

🌳On Saturday, May 2nd @2 and 4pm, Pam Tanowitz Dance will perform as a part of Van Cleef & Arpels “Spring is Blooming” festival. The event will be free, outdoors, and at Rockefeller Center

🌹On Saturday, May 9th, Pam’s “Dispatch Duet,” which was originally choreographed for The Royal Ballet, will be performed at Volksoper Wien (the Vienna opera house). This pas de deux piece is the ~central section~ of their “American Signatures” program

~WOW~ Congratulations, Pam!!! You can find the event information for May 2 and May 9 in our bio 💐
