A new study analyzing U.S. insurance claims data found that people with who started GLP-1 receptor agonists had a modestly higher rate of ischemic optic neuropathy (ION), a condition causing sudden vision loss, compared with those taking SGLT2 or DPP-4 inhibitors. However, the absolute risk was very low, suggesting the findings may be influenced by differences in patient health characteristics rather than the medications themselves. https://bit.ly/4ymYCMj

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School internal medicine residents joined faculty and staff from IFH’s Center for Climate, Health, and Healthcare (CCHH) for an afternoon of cooking, learning, and a little culinary creativity at Rutgers Cancer Institute's Morris Cancer Center’s Teaching Kitchen.

CCHH's Drs. Aayush Visaria and Soko Setoguchi teamed up with nutrition professor Dr. Nurgul Fitzgerald from Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and Chef Erin Clarke to serve up a tasty session featuring stuffed sweet potatoes with krispy kale and tahini. The session gave residents a fresh way to think about nutrition beyond the textbook. This flavorful gathering is part of an ongoing series designed to help medicine residents build their nutrition knowledge one bite at a time.
