The Mason Gross Digital filmmaking Major offers students an innovative program with individualized training in fiction and documentary film production taught by industry professionals. Our interdisciplinary model is designed to establish marketable skills in the emerging field of digital communication blended with a wide array of liberal arts electives. Here we create technically astute filmmakers

who are also intellectually informed artists. Students are trained in all aspects of their craft in both fiction and documentary production by working with professional filmmakers with a track record of producing award-winning feature and short documentaries that reach broad audiences. Training

Digital Filmmaking at Mason Gross trains students in all aspects of film production, from research and treatments to cinematography, lighting, field production, directing, script writing and story boarding, editing, and post production. Our pedagogy interweaves documentary and fiction with emerging film technologies and platforms, while providing students with a wide array of professional, marketable skills. Upon completion of the BFA in Digital Filmmaking, students demonstrate technical proficiency, narrative film form, film production as educational research/team collaborative skills, creative expression through production oriented classes, and management of complex projects all within a firm grounding in the humanities. Equipment and Software

The Rutgers Center for Digital Filmmaking offers students regular access to large sensor DSRLs and high-end digital cinema cameras with interchangeable lenses as well as professional audio and lighting equipment. Our classrooms and editing labs include Final Cut, Adobe Creative Suite and 2D and 3D animation software. Faculty

Under the direction of Dena Seidel and Patrick Stettner, the filmmaking faculty at Mason Gross School of the Arts boasts a core of internationally recognized and award winning production faculty largely from the New York City film community. Opportunities

Filmmaking opportunities within the Rutgers Film Bureau, our professional documentary unit,allow students to gain professional experience and production credit. Documentary films made with student involvement include Atlantic Crossing, Thailand Untapped, Antarctica: Beyond the Ice, and The War After. Recent graduates have been accepted to esteemed graduate film programs and have gained employment as associate producers, editors, and cinematographers. "This is a film about a young soldier having his world view challenged when he meets an enemy combatant after crashing in the woods. Being able to make scifi costumes and props and do some extended action sequences was a very fun thing to execute and im really excited to see how it all comes out!"
