At the time of the sinking in World War I, it was the greatest loss of American lives in any single engagement. The ceremony was attended by Captain H. T. Boyd who was in command of the Antilles at the time she was torpedoed. During the dedication ceremony, he told his story of the sinking by U-boat. Postcard of the SS Antilles c. 1910.

Building community across generations! This past weekend, Douglass students joined local Girl Scout troops for an afternoon of geocaching, a real-world treasure hunt powered by technology and teamwork. From current students and Girl Scouts to the Douglass and RU alums who now lead scouting initiatives, the event connected past, current, and future Douglass students with a shared love of leadership, mentorship, and community.

Thanks to all who made this possible, especially Evan Bossett ENG'98 and RBS'17 and Amy Saxe Bossett, who created this memorable hunt across campus!

Douglass does community! Douglass students and staff traveled to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County to support the backpack program. They packed over 600 packages!

Backpack food programs provide nutritious, easy-to-prepare food to children who may not have enough food at home to get through the weekend or school breaks when they cannot rely on school meals. Thanks to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County for welcoming us into this incredible initiative. If you're interested in joining a future Service Thursday at the Somerset Food Bank, visit the events listing at douglass.rutgers.edu/events. The next trip is on November 12!

Through an externship collaboration with Rutgers ScarletWell, Douglass is making a significant impact in New Brunswick by providing meaningful hands-on work experiences for students while supporting an essential mental health and wellness resource at Rutgers.

ScarletWell is the Rutgers-NB Chancellor's Initiative that aims to address the needs of students, staff, and faculty by coordinating preventative wellness measures to help combat mental health crises before they begin.
