This year 25 undergraduate and graduate students crossed over to become RULA alumni. We are assured of another well educated, insightful and prepared group of designers and planners dedicated to the stewardship of the land we walk together. The next academic year we welcome new freshman and sophomores, department leadership, common lecture presentations... overall, new and big things to look forward to.

We also wanted to recognize all the advising, consultation and help of RULA alumni at NJASLA and the NJASLA Education Foundation in providing students with the example and opportunity to experience the profession, to Brian Clemson and Ben Heller for their expertise in redesigning the Blake Benches and Alexis Lo for all the beautiful plantings at Blake.

Congratulations to all!

Last week Anita Bakshis’ praxis studio had their final studio presentation and celebration at coLAB Art’s event space in downtown New Brunswick!

Students had the opportunity to showcase their design ideas for the festival corridor for Art City - an arts festival that coLAB is organizing in downtown New Brunswick in October 2026.

This festival strives to create new economic and cultural connections between New Brunswick’s professional and financial Downtown community and the Esperanza Neighborhood.

Thank you to everyone who came out, and to the students and Professor for all the hard work!

One highlight of this spring’s SEBS Honors seminar “The Power of Walking and Observing”, taught by Dr. Anette Freytag was a chemo sensorial walk at Rutgers Gardens with Dr. Paul Breslin from Nutritional Sciences. A joint research project is taking shape as students had the wonderful opportunity to walk around Rutgers Gardens with a new found perspective, a perfect way to round out a hard working semester! Another big thank you to Annette Freytag & Dr. Paul Breslin!
