DRC Traditional Events: Yule Log and Sacred Path Douglass Residential College's Sacred Path is Sunday, May 1st at 7:00 pm in Voorhees Chapel and is followed by a reception in the DSC.

1)Sacred Path is a moving up of the classes ceremony that has been done annually since 1919. We celebrate the first years becoming sophomores, the sophomores becoming juniors, the juniors becoming seniors, and the seniors becoming alumnae. Also, during this ceremony, we distribute charms specific to each class year and each with different symbolism. We also recognize Douglass students for their ac

hievements.

2)The Yule Log Ceremony has been with the college since it opened in 1918. Today, the ceremony retains the look and spirit of that first celebration, but the songs and readings have changed in order to reflect the diversity of our student body. Yule Log occurs at the end of the year and celebrates diverse religious and spiritual traditions. On its 97th anniversary, we ask that guests bring donations of non-perishable food items that will be donated to a local charity, Hands of Hope. In the time-honored tradition of the moving up of the classes, Douglass graduating seniors escort first-year students along the "sacred path" between College Hall and George Street after a ceremony in Voorhees Chapel, where students receive class charms and awards are announced.
