Join us for R.C. Baker's talk, "Bust to Boom to Burnout to Bonzo," on Thursday, October 8, 6:00–7:30pm, in the Rutgers Academic Building, Room 2400 (East).

Baker, a journalist at "The Village Voice," multimedia artist, and professor, has written extensively about the intersection of politics, global conflict, popular culture, and the visual arts of the 20th century, with an emphasis on the emergence of New York City as the center of the international art world after World War II. Combining images of 20th-century artworks, political events, advertising, and comics with audio clips of speeches, popular music, news reports, and ad jingles, Baker connects the various ways in which governments exercise power with how those policies influence culture, both “high” and “low.” Learn more: go.rutgers.edu/r7ml6wpz

Meet Eesha Desai ('28, SAS/HC), a junior majoring in computer science and data science and minoring in cognitive science. In addition to serving on the Honors Peer Mentor executive board, she is involved in Hack4Impact as a full-stack engineer, and RU Katha, a classical Indian dance team. In her free time, Eesha enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Next up, we're introducing Hitesha Hatta (‘27, SAS/HC), a senior majoring in genetics and philosophy and minoring in nutrition. In addition to serving as a member of the executive board of the Honors Peer Mentor Program, she is also the vice president of the Rutgers Food Pantry Hotline and does research with the Genetics Department. In her free time, she loves watching anime, doing pilates, drinking matcha, and listening to music.

Today, we're introducing another Honors Peer Mentor who has been busy planning the mixer! Meet Krisha Shah ('27, SAS/HC), a senior majoring in cell biology and neuroscience and minoring in computer science. In addition to serving on the Honors Peer Mentor Executive Board, she is also a Learning Assistant for Calculus 1, DLS Ambassador, and part of the CBN Society E-Board. In her free time, she watches football, paints, and spends quality time with her family and friends.

Meet Honors Peer Mentor Brian Kataro ('27, SAS/HC), another member of the executive board who has been planning the upcoming Honors College Internship & Research Mixer happening next Friday, 9/25. Check your Monday and Thursday HC newsletters for details and to RSVP!

Brian is a senior double majoring in biotechnology and computer science, with a minor in biochemistry. In addition to serving as a member of the executive board of the Honors Peer Mentor Program, he is a Peer Mentor within the program. He also serves as an editor of the "Rutgers Review" magazine. You may find Brian spending his free time playing board and video games, collecting knick-knacks and figurines, or falling down an internet rabbit hole.

Today, we're introducing another amazing Honors Peer Mentor, Meghana Thimmaraju ('27, SAS/HC), who has been working with fellow mentors to plan the upcoming Honors College Internship & Research Mixer on Friday, 9/25.

Meghana is a senior majoring in cell biology and neuroscience and minoring in psychology. In addition to serving on the Honors Peer Mentor Executive Board, she is also a part of the Rutgers Chapter for the American Preventative Screening and Education Association Executive Board, a Division of Life Sciences Ambassador, and a Learning Assistant. Outside of academics, Meghana enjoys watching movies, trying new cuisines, listening to true crime podcasts, and doing crafts. Peer Mentors like Meghana provide 1:1 support to first-year students with similar interests within the Honors Peer Mentor Program.

Join us for Yael Bromberg's talk, "Youth, Voting Rights, & the Fight for Democracy," on Wednesday, September 23, 6:00-7:30pm, in the Rutgers Academic Building, Room 2400 (east).

Bromberg, Esq. is a constitutional rights attorney and a national expert on voting rights and election law. An editor and co-author of a new book, "Youth Voting Rights: Civil Rights, the Twenty-Sixth Amendment, and the Fight for American Democracy on College Campuses" (2026), she is the architect of the Youth Voting Rights Act, comprehensive legislation to enforce the Twenty-Sixth Amendment, which will be reintroduced in Congress this fall.
