When a former student returns to help his alma mater build for what comes next, it is worth celebrating.

Today, Unity welcomed back alumnus and former Director of Admissions Joe Saltalamachia ’94. After graduating from Unity, Joe spent 19 years leading recruitment here and designed some of the most successful admissions events in the institution’s history, some drawing more than 130 prospective students and their families.

Joe shared the thinking behind those events: how to frame an invitation, build a team across faculty, students, and alumni, and tailor experiences for different audiences and points in the enrollment cycle.

We are grateful to Joe for giving back to the institution that helped launch his career, and for helping the next generation of Unity recruitment leaders build what comes next!

Unity Environmental University was honored to recently host students from Bridge Academy Maine for a day dedicated to exploring all things Unity.

Students spent the day learning about opportunities at Unity at Pineland, Distance Education, and Career Edge, asking thoughtful questions and discovering how different educational models can help them achieve their goals. Including answering the most important question of the day, "Are Pop-Tarts technically a ravioli?"

Programs like Bridge Academy help high school students meet like-minded peers, explore their interests, earn college credits, land internships, experience college campuses, and connect with Maine employers.

While Bridge Academy offers a unique experience, we both share a common purpose: expanding access to education and helping students build brighter futures!

Higher education can’t transform for the future if its governance structures are designed to preserve the past. That’s the conversation Unity Environmental University President & CEO Dr. Melik Khoury hopes to bring to SXSW EDU 2027.

Unity’s proposed session, “Redesigning Governance for Transformation, Not Preservation,” will explore how colleges and universities can rethink the relationship between presidents and boards, remove governance barriers to necessary change, and build structures that enable institutions to evolve before circumstances force them to.
