The Center for Wellbeing of Women and Mothers, a women's-only research program at Yale's School of Medicine is offering an exciting study! The purpose of our new clinical trial is to investigate if administering progesterone (a naturally occurring hormone that exists in women) in pill form helps women (ages 18-45) quit smoking. You may have the opportunity to try this hormone. If eligible, you wil

l receive at no cost:
• Nicotine Patches
• Smoking Cessation Skills

The trial is 8 weeks in duration and includes a baseline computer assessment, weekly office visits, nicotine replacement therapy and either progesterone or placebo and a 1 and 3 month post treatment follow up assessments in our office. You will be reimbursed $265 cash for all study visits, including $20 for each weekly visit, $35 for the first post treatment visit and $50 for the 3 month post treatment visit. All visits will occur at 40 Temple Street, New Haven, CT. Visits 1 and 2 will be approximately 2 hours and visits 3-8 will be approximately 30-45 minutes as well as the follow up interviews. Your participation is completely voluntary and in no way will affect the medical care you currently receive or will receive in the future.
