Since April of 2023, a vicious counterrevolutionary war in Sudan has killed over 150,000 people, displaced over 11 million, and forced more than 19 million children out of school, in the world’s largest humanitarian crisis ever recorded. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) led by General Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan are the main warring parties, and the international community’s deafening silence has allowed them to execute their murderous agendas with impunity. After 21 months of fighting, thousands have been killed in a campaign of ethnic cleansing, countless women and girls have been subjected to sexual violence, and over 25 million are facing acute food insecurity, in the world’s first officially declared famine since 2020.

Just days ago, the RSF, funded and armed primarily by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), launched a full-scale siege of the Zam-Zam refugee camp in Al-Fashir, Darfur, where over half a million displaced people have taken refuge. Despite the US declaring genocide in Darfur weeks ago, no action has been taken to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people. A deadly lack of urgency is what leads us to this present moment. If action is not taken within days, the entire camp will be massacred.

Come hear from the Director of the Humanitarian Research Lab, Nathaniel Raymond, and Sudanese political analyst and activist, Kholood, on the current situation and how we can take action.
