Yale Physics offers training and research in a wide range of fields. We foster cross-disciplinary research collaborations worldwide and across Yale University. We offer Baccalaureate and Doctoral degrees through Yale University, as well as hands-on training for postdoctoral associates and postbaccalaureates. We have a diverse, interdisciplinary faculty pool, with the majority of professors having

their primary appointment in the Physics Department. The specific interests of the Department’s faculty members fall into several areas of research, which are detailed on the Department’s Research webpage. We lead and collaborate in a number of on-campus Yale Physics centers, programs and institutes, and maintain strong connections to other departments at Yale, including Applied Physics; Astronomy; Chemistry; Computer Sciences & Mathematics; Earth & Planetary Sciences; Mathematics; Mechanical Engineering; Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry; and Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology, and Neuroscience. Yale Physics occupies several buildings on the Yale campus, including the Sloane Physics Laboratory, Becton Engineering and Applied Science Center, the Mansions, Mason Laboratory, the Yale Science Building, West Campus, and Wright Lab. We are committed to fostering an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion for every member of our department community as we strive for excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring. We are led by our department’s Statement of Principles and our following graduate program Learning Objectives.
