Internship Spotlight: Sierra DuCharme

Sierra is a senior Economics student who is also pursuing Southern's accelerated pathway to the M.S. in Business Analytics. This summer, she interned with The Lee Company, where she gained hands-on experience applying classroom concepts in a real-world business environment while developing her technical, analytical, and professional skills.

"This experience provided meaningful, hands-on exposure to tools such as CRM systems and Power BI, allowing me to apply classroom concepts in a real business environment. I appreciated the opportunity to continually expand my knowledge as I worked directly with data and observed how it drives informed decision-making across the organization.

This role not only strengthened my technical and analytical capabilities, but also gave me meaningful insight into the broader business environment and the importance of collaboration, professionalism, and hard work in fostering effective and productive workplace dynamics.

My time at The Lee Company will support me as I continue my education and pursue future professional opportunities and has been an important step in building a strong foundation for my academic and career development."

For the first two weeks in July, the SCSU School of Business was proud to host New Haven Public Schools students for two engaging summer academies.

From entrepreneurship, business, and emerging technologies to personal finance and investing, students explored new ideas, built practical skills, and gained confidence for the future.

We are proud to partner with Youth Entrepreneurs and New Haven Public Schools to foster innovation and collaboration in New Haven. Congratulations to all student participants and thank you to the teachers, judges, and community partners!
