✨ Mansion Monday: Dominican Hall ✨

We know what you’re thinking: Dominican Hall? A mansion? Not quite. 😂

But hear us out. Before you can live in one of Albertus Magnus College's historic mansions, you have to live somewhere first!

Dominican is our most “traditional” residence hall, housing about 150 new students in singles, doubles, triples, and quads. For many students, it’s their first home at Albertus and where they begin settling into college life, meeting their people, and becoming part of the community.

Dominican has everything you need to make it feel like home: shared kitchenettes for late-night snacks and quick meals, filtered water bottle stations, vending machines, and a laundry room on the first floor. 🧺

So no, Dominican may not have the grand architecture or historic stories of our mansions. But it has something just as important: it’s where the Albertus experience begins for so many students. 💙

Because before you can live in a mansion, you’ve got to start somewhere!😉🏡

What if your professors could bring decades of experience in corrections, law enforcement, investigations, military service, and the legal field straight into the classroom?

John Lawrie, Ed.D., brings 20 years of experience with the Connecticut Department of Correction and expertise in corrections and reform.

James T. Scott, D.C.J., brings experience in law enforcement, military service, complex investigations, recruitment, and training.

Michael Geary, J.D., brings two decades of law enforcement and legal experience, with a focus on national security, constitutional law, and civil liberties.

That kind of real-world perspective can open your thinking about where a career in criminal justice can take you, from corrections and law enforcement to victim advocacy, emergency management, forensic work, cybersecurity, and more.

Please join us in celebrating alumna Mandy Goin '26 M.S. on an incredible career milestone! 🎓✨

Mandy began her journey in healthcare at 16 years old as a CNA, driven by a deep commitment to long-term care residents. To prepare for executive facility leadership, she decided to pursue her Master of Science in Healthcare Administration at Albertus Magnus College.

That investment in her education paid off: Mandy recently passed her board exams and earned her official Connecticut License to practice as a Long-Term Care Administrator at Apple Rehab in Rocky Hill!

By mastering healthcare law, business finance, and strategic leadership at Albertus, Mandy gained the exact skill set needed to run a facility, support dedicated clinical staff, and ensure every resident receives safe, respectful care.

✨ Mansion Monday: Walsh Hall ✨

If the walls of Walsh Hall could talk, they’d have quite a few stories to tell...

When the building was constructed in 1906, it wasn’t a classroom, chapel, or administrative office. It was the garage and carriage house for the Tyler family estate. Two carriage horses and a riding horse were kept there, while a large vegetable and kitchen garden grew alongside the building.

After Albertus purchased the Tyler estate, the former carriage house entered a new chapter. It was converted into a science laboratory and named Walsh Hall in honor of Thomas J. Walsh, who donated $10,000 toward the renovation and laboratory equipment. The building opened as a science lab during the 1926-27 academic year and eventually housed both chemistry and biology departments.

Today, Walsh Hall has traded test tubes for something very different. It houses the Office of the President, conference rooms, and the St. Catherine of Siena Chapel, the primary spiritual center of Albertus Magnus College.

President Marc M. Camille, EdD, works from Walsh Hall, while the chapel provides a space for prayer, reflection, and spiritual life rooted in the College’s Catholic and Dominican tradition.

More than a century after it was built, Walsh Hall is still serving the Albertus community, just in a very different way. 💙
