Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position (NIH-NIDDK Funded)

A NIH-NIDDK funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Bilon Khambu at TUSOM. We seek a highly motivated and talented scientist to join an interdisciplinary research program focused on liver biology, liver immunology, hematology, and chronic liver diseases, including liver injury, inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF).
The successful candidate will conduct independent and collaborative research, design & execute experiments, analyze and interpret data, prepare manuscripts for publication, and present findings at national and international scientific meetings. The position offers excellent opportunities for scientific growth, career development, mentorship, & grant-writing training.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
A PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in Immunology, Hematology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology, or a related field.
A strong record of scientific productivity, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.
Hands-on experience with molecular & cellular biology techniques, particularly:
Flow cytometry
Primary cell isolation from mouse tissues (liver, bone marrow, spleen, thymus, etc.)
Rodent survival surgery
In vitro primary or cell line culture
Western blotting
Quantitative PCR (qPCR)
Immunofluorescence staining (IFC/IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
Confocal microscopy
Experience analyzing publicly available genomic and transcriptomic datasets (e.g., GEO/GSE datasets).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in liver disease, immunology, immune cell biology, metabolism, hematology, preclinical animal models, or multi-omics approaches.
Experience with bioinformatics, computational biology, & large-scale data analysis.
