Today, Aveda Arts & Science Institute invited the Pi Xi Chapter of Sigma Beta Xi Sorority, Inc. to volunteer at the Step Up AM High Back-to-School Giveaway!

It was an amazing day centered around giving back, connecting families with valuable community resources, and making sure the kids had plenty of FUN along the way!

Families were able to enjoy and access so many activities and resources, including:

Face painting
Free health screenings &Free dental cleanings provided by LSU
HANO housing resources
Gaming truck
DJ & music
Food & drinks
Snowballs
Boys & Girls Club
Sewerage & Water Board resources
We Care About You confidential STI testing
Silk Me Kids
Bounce houses
Games &activities

Pi Xi also raffled an air fryer, and the winner was a community resident named Shantell.

We are grateful to be part of a day dedicated to supporting our community and helping families prepare for another successful school year.

💛 August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month 💛

Today I’m proudly wearing yellow in support of breastfeeding moms alongside my sisters of the Pi Xi Chapter of New Orleans.

Breastfeeding is a beautiful journey that can provide many benefits, including: Nutrition uniquely designed for your baby, Antibodies that help support a baby’s immune system, Opportunities for bonding and comfort, Health benefits for many mothers, too

But let’s also acknowledge the other side of the journey. Breastfeeding isn’t always easy. Some mothers experience pain, latch difficulties, low milk supply, postpartum depression, medical complications, or simply circumstances that make breastfeeding impossible or not the best choice for their family.

So today, we celebrate all moms.

Formula feed
Combination feed

You are feeding your baby with love, and that’s what matters most.

Motherhood isn’t measured by how your baby is fed. It’s measured by the love, sacrifice, and care you pour into your child every single day.

Let’s continue supporting, educating, and encouraging one another without judgment.
