Working in Central Sterilization (CSR) and the dispensary for the past three years, Shandricka Howard provides students with the tools they need for clinical training and treating patients. Sterilizing and assembling instrument kits, stocking clinics, and helping students find what they need, Shandricka plays an essential role in supporting student success.
Shandricka looks forward to coming to work every day and enjoys guiding learners as they become familiar with clinic procedures and equipment. “When students come in and aren’t sure what they need, I tell them, ‘We’re going to learn together,’” she explained.
Whether she's preparing instruments behind the scenes in CSR or assisting students in the dispensary, Shandricka finds fulfillment in knowing her work has a direct impact on student learning and quality patient care. “The students always ask where I’ve been when they don’t see me in the dispensary. It means a lot to know they appreciate what I do,” she said.
