Tulane Law School

Tulane Law School Tulane Law School, founded in 1847, is the 12th oldest law school in the country and has been accredited by the American Bar Association since May 1925.

The JD student body comprises 750 students from throughout the US, with just 15% from the state of Louisiana. At least 45 states are represented in the student body, as are close to 200 undergraduate schools. An additional 50 students are enrolled in Tulane Law School's LLM and SJD programs. Approximately 40% of the student body is female, and about 20% are students of color. Among the things that

set Tulane Law School apart are the breadth and depth of its curriculum. It offers certificates of specialization in: European Legal Studies, International & Comparative Law, Civil Law, Maritime Law, Environmental Law, and Sports Law. It offers six different live-client clinics: criminal defense, civil litigation, juvenile litigation, environmental law, domestic violence, mediation, and legislative and administrative advocacy. Its business and corporate course offerings are strong, as is its intellectual property law curriculum. Tulane Law School was the first in the country to require pro bono legal work as a condition of graduation.

The ALPS: Association for Law, Property, and Society annual meeting is officially underway!

Scholars from around the world have gathered in New Orleans and Weinmann Hall for three days of ideas, collaboration, and conversation. Attendees kicked off the conference with a walking tour of downtown New Orleans led by the Preservation Resource Center, exploring the city's historic architecture and cultural identity.

When attorneys from across Louisiana gathered for the Louisiana State Bar Association's summer meeting, Tulane Law professors Sally Richardson and Ron Scalise were invited to share their expertise with practitioners from around the state.

The two presented jointly on the Louisiana Supreme Court’s Year in Review. They also shared insights from their areas of expertise, with Scalise covering updates in successions law and Richardson covering updates in property law.

Professor Carla Laroche recently presented her scholarship at the Society of American Law Teachers' inaugural Progressive Scholars Workshop, hosted at Boston University Law School.

Laroche shared her forthcoming article, "Inclusionary Voter Zoning," which will be published in the Yale Law and Policy Review later this year. The workshop featured discussions spanning property law, constitutional law, criminal procedure and more, while also creating space for candid conversations about scholarship and the future of legal education.
