A coordinated team of Tulane Medicine physicians across three LCMC Health hospitals helped save the life of veteran paramedic Kenny Knowles after he was struck by an out-of-control vehicle while responding to a call last August. From emergency trauma care at University Medical Center New Orleans to orthopedic reconstruction at Lakeside Hospital and specialized urologic surgery at East Jefferson General Hospital, Tulane physicians worked together to guide Kenny through each stage of his recovery.

A new path to nursing is coming to Tulane.

Beginning this fall, Newcomb-Tulane College students can pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing while remaining fully engaged in the undergraduate experience. Through a partnership with Tulane Nursing at the School of Medicine, students will gain hands-on clinical training, work alongside future physicians, and complete more than 800 hours of supervised clinical practice.

It's a new opportunity for students and an important step toward strengthening Louisiana's healthcare workforce.

A new weight-loss drug in late-stage clinical trials helped people lose around 30% of their body weight, on par with the results many patients see following bariatric surgery. Anita Cook started a Make-A-Wish service-learning program at Tulane School of Medicine during her first year of medical school, and 60 of her fellow students have now completed the wish-granter training. Wish-granters meet with critically ill children and their families to help make their big dreams come true.
