With heavy hearts, we honor the life and legacy of Rev. James Carter, whose impact on Loyola University New Orleans and generations of students will continue to be felt for years to come.
Father Carter's commitment to leadership, service, faith, and the Jesuit ideal of educating the whole person lives on through the Rev. James Carter, S.J. Award for Outstanding Leadership. We honor Rev. Carter through a Magis award recognizing a graduating senior who exemplifies leadership and learning in the Jesuit tradition while demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the mission and life of the university.
As we remember Father Carter's extraordinary contributions, we are honored to celebrate our 2026 Magis Award recipient, Jessica Valerio, whose exemplary leadership, outstanding service, and dedication to the Loyola community reflect the values Father Carter championed throughout his life.
