Opera is gearing up for their semester debut Sunday! 😮 Come see the full production of Opera Scenes: “The Four Seasons,” a free, piano-accompanied concert that explores Opera, Operetta, and Broadway scenes, on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium, on the Loyola campus.

❄️🌱☀️🍂 The concert offers music that takes place in all four seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Each of the 19 individual pieces are three-to-four minutes long and allow for a lot of variety.

CMM celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with our first-ever Latin Music Camp: ¡Donde Sea, Pero en Casa! 🎉

The camp, organized by Damien Ch and Hannah Mebarak, brought together students, artists, producers, and music industry professionals for two days of creativity, collaboration, and culture.

🎤 Producers Ali Stone and Juan J. Arroyo kicked off the weekend with a panel led by EDVXX, followed by two inspired days of live music writing and recording.

Thanks so much to our guest speakers/producers and the camp sponsor, Focusrite, for providing prizes, giveaways, and live tech support over the weekend.

Coming up: don’t miss a captivating guest performance by the award-winning pianist Takeshi Nagayasu.

Rooted in excellence, Takeshi studied music at Juilliard and Yale, and he received a doctoral degree in piano performance this year from the University of Michigan.

As put by Marc Chabot, a performance by Takeshi is “...remarkable for its passion, expression and dazzling virtuosity.”

Is teaching music your calling? Miranda Zelonka, a senior Classical Vocal Music Education major, knew as a teen that she wanted to teach music.

And now she is! As part of her curriculum, Miranda is currently teaching music at an elementary school, and next semester she will teach at a high school.

Loyola offers hands-on learning, providing students the experience and support they need to empower the next generation of musicians.

Today, the Loyola Symphony Orchestra, Loyola Chorale, and dancers from the College of Music and Media ushered in the new academic year at our annual Mass of the Holy Spirit.

This highly anticipated and beautiful ceremony is a sacred tradition dating back nearly 500 years to 1548, when St. Ignatius Loyola founded the first Jesuit school in Messina, Sicily.

We hope all who attended feel uplifted and inspired, ready to move forward with spirit and strength.
