At Loyola University New Orleans' Department of Film and Music Industry Studies (FAMIS), our team of Grammy®-winning faculty and industry professionals prepare students for careers in the entertainment industry through four exciting undergraduate degree programs.

Today, the Loyola Symphony Orchestra, Loyola Chorale, and dancers from the College of Music and Media ushered in the new academic year at our annual Mass of the Holy Spirit.

This highly anticipated and beautiful ceremony is a sacred tradition dating back nearly 500 years to 1548, when St. Ignatius Loyola founded the first Jesuit school in Messina, Sicily.

We hope all who attended feel uplifted and inspired, ready to move forward with spirit and strength.

The College of Music and Media community is deeply saddened by the passing of Music alum Riley English.

“Sometimes the teacher learns from the student. We learned a great deal from Riley. Every week she had fresh and remarkable ideas. She was a stunning guitarist and a wonderfully creative explorer of sound possibilities whose compositions were beautiful jewels. Riley was so kind. Always helpful and never judgmental. There is a hole in music where Riley used to be.”

🤡 Just clowning around! At the last Clown 101 Workshop, students dove into the physicality, heart, silliness, and bravery it takes to master the art of clowning.
