Please share! We want to make our market broiler exhibitors are aware of an issue that has been identified with Ge**er’s Turkey Starter feed.

It has been brought to our attention that the Coshocton County Extension office has received several reports of birds experiencing leg and toe weakness/muscle strength concerns. As a result, they have been in communication with Ge**er regarding the issue.

Ge**er responded by telling them they are aware of the concern and they have placed a stop-sale on the affected Turkey Starter formula. In turn, Coshocton County reached out to us to let us know of the issues they have encountered knowing that we are also raising birds for fair at this time.

If you are currently feeding Ge**er’s Turkey Starter to your market broilers, please change your feed immediately. Do not continue feeding the affected formula.
Vitamin and mineral nutrition is extremely important for growing broilers, and nutrients such as riboflavin (Vitamin B2) and selenium play important roles in normal growth, muscle function, and overall bird health. If you are feeding a turkey starter or another feed that has recently undergone a formula change, please take a moment to check the current feed tag/guaranteed analysis and confirm that your birds are receiving appropriate levels of essential vitamins and minerals.
Please remember that leg and toe issues can have multiple causes, so if you are seeing weakness or other concerning symptoms in your birds, we encourage you to contact your veterinarian or a poultry nutrition professional as well.

We also ask that exhibitors notify the Tuscarawas County Extension Office if you believe your birds have been affected. We are trying to get a better understanding of how many birds and exhibitors may have been impacted so that we can appropriately address the situation and provide additional information as it becomes available.

Our priority is the health of your birds and making sure our exhibitors have the information they need to finish their projects successfully.

**Coshocton County has also shared that they have had a couple members feed “Rooster Booster” vitamin supplements from TSC and it has helped pull of few of their less affected birds back.
