Less than one week to Orientation, but who's counting? Say hello to Orientation Leader Olivia Alicea (BA '29) 🥳
💜 What is your concentration?
I don’t have an exact name for it yet; however, my concentration is most likely going to be centered around law, media and entertainment (communications), with a minor in Spanish or BEMT. That part is still being figured out, though 🙃
💜 What made you decide to be an OL?
My OLs were amazing and were really the first friends I made here at NYU. They made me feel more comfortable and at home within the NYU community as a whole. I aspire to be someone that incoming freshmen feel like they can come and talk to, and know that they have in their corner, just like my Gallatin OLs and overall friends at NYU have done for me.
💜 What’s something about you that people might be surprised to know?
I went to an all-girls boarding school for all of high school! It’s definitely been a big adjustment going from that to NYU, but I don’t regret it at all. I got to learn about so many different cultures and meet people from all over the world, which is something I’ve similarly experienced here at NYU so far.
💜 What’s one piece of advice you’d give to incoming students?
What you put into NYU is what you will get out of it. With that in mind, say yes to everything you may want to do, but don’t over exert yourself. However, if you want to do something but are hesitant, it’s better to do something scared than to not do it at all!
👋 Whether you have a question, need a friendly face, or just want to meet someone new, make sure to say hello to Olivia at Orientation!
