Touro's Graduate School of Education was officially established in 1993 and, today, is among the largest schools of education in the state of New York. Our enrollment draws on the constantly-evolving urban community of New York and reflects an extremely diverse student body, including students from all over the world. Consistent with Touro's mission, the School of Education remains solidly committ

ed to high quality universal education. Our goal is to offer exemplary programs and to graduate outstanding students prepared to provide superior future leadership in the field of education. In addition to serving traditional full-time graduates who have recently completed their undergraduate degrees, Touro’s Graduate School of Education supports the academic needs of applicants who are already employed and who desire to upgrade their professional preparation or obtain additional credentials. Therefore, evening, weekend, and online classes are offered to accommodate the needs of working professionals. The School of Education, the largest in the Division of Graduate Studies, is dedicated to excellence in education for a rapidly-changing education environment. In order to provide school districts and other educational agencies with highly professional and competent teachers, administrators, and educational personnel, every effort is made to maximize the quality of our programs. To this end, the School continues to strengthen its internal systems for supporting the high performance of both students and faculty; develop new programs that can effectively meet the contemporary needs of schools – especially those serving high-needs and diverse student bodies; and expand the School's collaboration with a wide range of national and state stakeholders in education. The School currently offers seven graduate degree programs and six certificate programs leading to New York State certification. in Education and Special Education (including an online/blended program option) http://gse.touro.edu/academics/masters-programs/education--special-education/

🌟 Polemeni Scholar Spotlight! 🌟

Meet Renée Barton-Rose, a proud Touro University Graduate School of Education scholar, educator, mother, writer, and fierce advocate for children with different learning needs.

Renée is the founder of The Elijah Project, a holistic educational resource designed to help students feel seen, families feel supported, and educators honor who each child is. Her leadership is rooted in the powerful belief that children should never be defined by their challenges, but rather supported through them with patience, structure, love, and meaningful tools.

💬 "As a Polemeni Scholar at Touro University, I have benefited from the support, encouragement, and mentorship of faculty members who recognized the importance of The Elijah Project... I am especially grateful to Professor Jasmin Cowin for her encouragement and support of this endeavor, and to Dr. Jill Ordynans, who has consistently been a supportive force in helping me prosper in my educational goals." — Renée Barton-Rose

We are so incredibly proud of Renée’s dedication to inclusive learning and community advocacy!

Yesterday, the Touro University Graduate School of Education hosted its annual ceremony to initiate the newest members to the Alpha Eta Sigma Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), the National Professional Association and Honor Society for Educators. This year, more than 70 Touro GSE candidates have been initiated into KDP!

We also took this opportunity to reflect on what makes teaching the absolute profession that brings to life all other professions, and to honor our graduating class as they prepare to enter the field.

Highlights from the night:

Dean Dr. Nelly Lejter Morales opened the ceremony with warm words of encouragement and gratitude to our graduates and the families who supported them throughout their journey of excellence.

Dr. Charity Dacey, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of building trust and supportive environments in our schools and colleges.

Dr. Marcella Bullmaster-Day, Associate Professor of Education, took us back to the beginning of her lifelong career, sharing a beautiful story about her very first students—who are now successful professionals and still credit her for their success!

As we continue celebrating our remarkable candidates, we are proud to recognize those who embody our long tradition of excellence in teacher preparation.

Thank you to the chapter for performing such a beautiful initiation ceremony. It was truly a night to remember!
