MAVA - Kingsborough Community College In this role, the MAVA team facilitates smooth transition and reintegration onto the college community.

The Military and Veteran Affairs Office (MAVA) serves the needs of prospective and enrolled active military personnel, veterans, their dependents ,spouses and survivors. MAVA aides in application and certification for students who are elig

ible to receive education benefits under various Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) programs. We provide supplement recruitment and retention efforts, various counseling and advisement services, academic program information, and certify eligible students to receive DVA education benefits while maintaining productive relations with the Veterans Administration and other agencies serving veterans. Are you a CUNY student living in NYCHA? Get $1,000 for College!

Applications are now open for the 2026 NYCHA–CUNY Resident Scholarship. This is a one-time $1,000 award.

Eligibility requirements include:

-Authorized NYCHA public housing or Section 8 resident
-Currently, enrolled full-time at a CUNY college (undergraduate or graduate)
-At least 24 credits
-Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Application requirements include:

-Completed application via NYCHA Self-Service Portal
-750-word essay
-Unofficial transcript including Spring 2026 grades
