We would also like to extend a special thank you to Sue Malhotra who currently serves as the Deputy Director of Human Resources for the Central Office of CUNY and who joined the Queens College family on August 1, 2016 on an interim basis pending the completion of our national search.

Please join us in welcoming Lee to Queens College and to the Office of Human Resources. She can be reached at 718-997-4455 and [email protected]. Lee’s office is in Kiely Hall, Room 163.

Estate Planning Workshop: Leaving a Legacy

What to consider BEFORE meeting with an Estate Planner

Meeting with an estate-planning attorney can be overwhelming. We will talk about things to think about before you meet with your attorney, including the basic estate planning documents and fiduciary roles. We will also look at different charitable and estate planning tools that can help you provide for your family and remember Queens College (or another charitable organization) in your estate plan.

12:30pm – 1:30pm

President’s Lounge in Dining Hall

If you will be joining us, kindly RSVP below by March 24th.

Presented by Emily G. Hirshbein, JD, Director of Gift Planning

Employees will be helping one another receive the best discount offer for upcoming Nets games, which includes OKC Thunder, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, and weekend games! Every time an employee pre-orders tickets to a game, they will be helping themselves and others receive a deeper discount at the end of the deadline date. Thank you to everyone who attended the 2016 Benefits Fair and making it a HUGE success. Over 350 employees came out to learn about the many benefits offered from over the 45 vendors who attended.

We had many raffle winners for the following items: (4) Dunkin Donut gift cards, (2) Gino’s gift certificates, (2) Valentino’s gift certificates, (1) Fillmore’s gift certificate, (2) Queens Theater tickets, (4) Kupferberg Center tickets and (4) Hall of Science tickets. Congrats to all the winners!

Again, we would like to thank all of our vendors and a very special thank you to all our volunteers. We couldn’t do it without your participation and dedication.

If you attended and would like to offer suggestions or comments for next year’s event, please email us at [email protected].

As we gather to celebrate the spirit of the holidays with our friends and coworkers, let us remember those less fortunate and spread our holiday joy beyond the borders of our campus.

Together with the Office of the President, the Office of Human Resources will once again be coordinating the Holiday Toy Drive. This year’s event will begin on Wednesday, November 9 and will extend to Thursday, December 15. Please contribute new unwrapped toys that will be distributed to less fortunate children in our area through the Toys for Tots Foundation. We ask that all employees attending the President’s Holiday Party bring along new unwrapped toys as a contribution to our CUNY-wide effort to make a difference.

Please feel free to come by the Office of Human Resources located in Kiely Hall 163, or to the President’s Holiday Party, to drop off your much-appreciated donations. Other Drop off locations include: Kiely 151 and Security Main Gate.

Together we can make a difference, one TOY at a time!

A message from President Matos regarding changes within our HR & Admin Svc Unit.

Dear Members of our College Community:

I write to inform you of important changes within our Human Resources and Administrative Services unit. As you may already know, Reinalda Medina will no longer be serving as Assistant Vice President for Human Resources and Administrative Services, effective July 30. We greatly value her years of dedicated service to the college. Reinalda joined the Queens College family in 2007 as the Executive Director for Human Resources and became Assistant Vice President in 2011. She has served as an important resource to our campus community and meaningfully touched the lives of many. We are grateful for her commitment and work at QC.

I would also like to share that Sue Malhotra will be joining Queens College on August 1 as the Interim Director of Human Resources, pending the completion of a national search for a new Assistant Vice President for Human Resources. Sue currently serves as the Deputy Director of Human Resources for the Central Office of CUNY and has over 12 years of experience in human resource management in both higher education and healthcare settings. We hope to complete the search and selection process by November 2016.

Until Sue Malhotra's arrival, human resources related inquiries should be directed to Sharon Megnath at [email protected] or 718-997-5765, or Janai Wigfall at [email protected] or 718-997-4455.

We thank you for your support and cooperation during this transition process.

Sincerely,

Félix V. Matos Rodríguez
President
