The semester starts tomorrow 👀💻
Did you reset your digital life?

Things I Wish I Knew Before Day One — Vol. 3
Your Digital Reset!

Before the semester gets rolling… get your digital life together. 💻✨

☁️ Set up your cloud storage
📁 Make a folder for the semester + each class
📝 Rename files so Document (12).pdf is not your system! 🧹 Clean out Downloads + random files
🔖 Bookmark the sites you use every week
🔐 Test your CUNY logins + make sure MFA works
🔑 Save your passwords somewhere secure
📄 Save important college docs + anything you submit

THE GOAL: be able to find anything you need in 30 seconds or less.

Because telling your professor “I have it somewhere… I just can’t find it” is a stress you do not need. 😭

And if you’re taking an online or hybrid class, “I couldn’t get into the class” is not something you want to discover after class already started. Test your logins, Brightspace + Zoom before Day 1‼️

Be sure to catch our previous posts for "Things I wish I knew before Day One" Volumes 1 and 2!

📌 Save this for tonight’s reset + send it to the friend who needs a digital reset‼️

Yes, we have access to your fridge💀

Anyway… did you file your 2026–2027 FAFSA with BMCC (002691) listed as your school? 👀

🚨 This is your reminder: classes start NEXT FRIDAY!

Got plans August 28? You do now. 📚

Check your CUNYfirst schedule to see if your classes meet on Fridays — and if they do, GO TO CLASS.

💡 Why does attendance matter for financial aid?
Financial aid is based on your enrollment and attendance. If your professor reports that you never attended or participated in a class, you may receive a WN (Never Attended) grade.

A WN means you did not establish attendance in that course, so the class does not count toward your financial aid enrollment. That can cause your aid to be reduced or recalculated.

✨ Check your schedule. Show up. Establish attendance. Protect your financial aid.

And if you attended but received a WN by mistake, contact your professor ASAP.

POV: you just realized you haven’t applied for financial aid yet… 🎷🥲

It’s okay, take this as a reminder to submit your FAFSA and TAP application as soon as you can always. The sooner you apply, the sooner you can explore the financial aid you’re eligible for.

If you need help, stop by the ASAP @ Borough of Manhattan CC office. We’re here to support you every step of the way. 💙
