It’s looking like a picture-perfect weekend in NYC, and we look forward to seeing so many of you at NYU Alumni and Families Weekend 2026! 🍂 Here are some tips to make the most of your time on campus:

💜 Check in at the Kimmel Center (Friday 9–5 and Saturday 8–6) before attending your first event to pick up your name badge and tote bag. If you’re heading to a Thursday event, a Friday evening event (including Violet After Dark at Gotham Hall), the Perstare Society Breakfast on Saturday morning, or a Sunday event, you can check in directly at your event venue. ✅

💜 Casual and comfortable is perfect for most activities. Bring a jacket or extra layers. For dean’s luncheons and evening celebrations, feel free to dress up a bit.🕺

💜 We recommend taking public transportation to make your way to the Washington Square Park area—the A, C, E, B, D, F, M, N, and R subway lines all stop near NYU. 🚇

An Emmy-nominated and Writers Guild Award–winning comedy writer whose credits span classics like The Bob Newhart Show, Barney Miller, Alice, and Growing Pains, Sybil’s ties to NYU run just as deep as her broadcast roots: both she and her husband are graduates of the Heights campus, and their son carried on the family tradition at NYU Law. Rebecca Alva (STEINHARDT ’96) found her people through NYU and has spent more than a decade helping others do the same while serving the NYU Alumni Association as a leader of the NYU Alumni Club in South Florida. Through creative programming, she has worked to engage 17,000 alumni in the region with events ranging from happy hours to cultural activities. In Rebecca’s words, “you can receive so much more from NYU than a degree.”

NYU alum and fiction writer Maaza Mengiste (GSAS ’07) was among the recently named recipients of the 2026 MacArthur “Genius Grant” for her literary works, which reveal the dangers and harms of political conflict. This year’s fellows also included Immanuel Wilkins, a Grammy-nominated saxophonist and composer, and an adjunct instructor in NYU’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) who has received three Grammy Award nominations. The MacArthur Fellows Program is awarded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and aims to identify and support creative individuals whose work(s) benefits society.
