APM week! 🎉🥳

We’ll be bringing a little piece of NYC to ATL this Thursday when we kick off the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Annual Program Meeting conference!

Always such a good time connecting with colleagues from schools and organizations nationwide, and of course supporting our faculty as they present cutting-edge research.

Congratulations to Fordham GSS Professor Lauri Goldkind, PhD, who, as of this September, was appointed as a member of the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) inaugural National Advisory Board for AI and Technology!

Goldkind, a leading voice on artificial intelligence (AI) in social work, is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Technology in Human Services and founder of the Participatory AI Research, Education and Development (PAIRED) Lab. Her current research has two threads: data justice and artificial intelligence in human services and nonprofits, and artificial intelligence in social work practice.

She will join fellow board members from universities across the country, including Columbia University, New York University, the University of Pennsylvania, and more.

Yesterday, we celebrated a year of Grounds Café! ☕️

Located in the Bronx just a short walk away from Fordham’s Rose Hill campus, Grounds is so much more than a place to grab coffee before class. The café grew out of a desire to put community first, in a setting where everyone is welcomed and celebrated. It’s truly a special place.

We are so grateful for GSS Professors Alonzo and Popescu (first photo)—along with the community partners, local residents, Fordham students, and friends from all over—for helping turn this vision of a cross-cultural safe space into a thriving reality.

Here’s to many more years of Grounds Café!

HUGE NEWS! A historic $6M gift is expanding what's possible at GSS.

Thanks to Fordham University Trustee Rose DiMartino '79 MA and her spouse, Karen Sue Smith, GSS will be able to provide practicum stipends for MSW students, establish the first Academy for Su***de Prevention and Education in a school of social work, and appoint our first Distinguished Scholar for Human Rights and Global Justice.
