At Queensborough Community College, we celebrate the art and science of teaching and learning, nurture the growth of the individual student in a supportive environment, and establish an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding. Queensborough offers a rich liberal arts and science curriculum as well as career and pre-professional courses. Comprising one of the most diverse populations of any

college in the U.S., nearly 15,000 students pursue associate degrees or certificate programs. Another 10,000 students of all ages attend continuing education programs. The College features dual/joint degree programs in Nursing, Biotechnology, Criminal Justice and Education with its sister CUNY institutions— Hunter College, York College, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and Queens College, respectively. More than half of the faculty hold doctorates, compared with 21 percent of community college faculty nationwide. The campus is buzzing! The Office of New Student Engagement will be hosting “Welcome Week” to support our students.

During the first week of the semester, tables will be set up in key locations around campus to provide information on student support services, help logging into CUNYfirst/Brightspace and student email, find classroom/building locations, access campus Wi-Fi, and so much more.

All students are invited to stop by our tables should they need assistance, or just to say hello to a faculty/staff/administrator of the college. We’ll also have some cool giveaways for students!

What can abandoned prisons teach us about history, justice, and society?

Queensborough history professor and author Clarence Jefferson Hall, Jr. recently led a tour through Camp Gabriels, a former tuberculosis sanatorium, college campus, and minimum-security prison—exploring the site's complex past and the stories it continues to tell about incarceration, memory, and New York history.
