We hope you took a moment to savor it all. 💜

The last card swipe into your home building.
The last goodbye to a professor who changed how you see the world.
The memories you'll carry long after the cap comes off. Before the big day, we got a peek into how one of our own is soaking it all in.

Thank you to the incredibly talented Sophia Klinard Rubio (BFA ’26, Studio Art) for bringing us along for her cap decorating process. 🎓🎨

Congratulations, Class of 2026. You made it!

Before she became a 20th-century civil rights leader, Dorothy Height took the subway to Washington Square Park, transcript in hand, and enrolled at NYU's School of Education that same afternoon.

She wrote later: "From that day forward, I have loved every brick of that university."

Height (BA ’33, MA ’35, HON ’75) went on to work alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and helped organize the March on Washington. NYU Steinhardt honors her legacy each year with the Dorothy Height Distinguished Alumni Award, presented to an alum who has distinguished themselves in their field.

Swipe to meet some of the awardees through the years—from educators and artists to advocates and innovators—who carry that legacy forward. 💜
