Dr. Lilian Ajayi Ore joins the 2026 AI4 Conference in Las Vegas, America’s largest AI conference, contributing to two timely conversations on the future of work and technology, speaking on “The Talent Blueprint: Architecting the Future Workforce” and moderating “Overhauling Traditional IT Systems for the AI Era.”

She brings her expertise in AI integration, learning, leadership, and strategic communication to explore how organizations can prepare talent and systems for an AI-driven future.

This summer, Ria Deshmukh is interning with PBS KIDS in Content Marketing, where she is gaining experience through project-based learning and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
Through her internship, Ria is directly applying the concepts and skills she has developed in the Strategic Communication program to real-world projects. Working across teams has given her the opportunity to see how strategic communication comes to life in a professional environment while continuing to build her skills, and grow as a communications professional.

This summer, Sierra Sands is interning with BBC Studios in New York City as a Research & Analytics Intern, where she is gaining hands-on experience using industry-leading analytics tools to understand audience behavior and media performance.

Through this experience, she is building expertise in audience insights, consumer trends, and media analytics while supporting advertising and partnership strategies and collaborating with sales and marketing teams. She credits the Strategic Communication program at Columbia University with preparing her for this opportunity. Through the program, she has strengthened her research, analytics, and strategic thinking skills. Learning from faculty with extensive industry experience has also provided valuable insight into current trends and best practices across media and communications.

The Columbia SPS Career Design Center has supported her professional growth by helping her refine her resume, prepare for interviews, strengthen her networking skills, and explore career opportunities in media and entertainment.

This summer, Marissa Gregory () is training for the New York City Marathon while fundraising for the American Cancer Society, combining a personal challenge with a commitment to making an impact.
Through this experience, she is developing the discipline, resilience, and determination that will serve her throughout her career. Marathon training has shown her what can be accomplished through consistent effort and perseverance, reinforcing the importance of setting ambitious goals and working steadily to achieve them.
She also credits the Strategic Communication program with helping her grow both personally and professionally.  🩵🦁

This summer, Kylie Willis is interning with GC4W, one of the programs faculty’s (Dr. Ore) non profit!
Through this experience, she is supporting the development of a new brand identity, website, merchandise, and long-term growth strategies to position the organization for future success. She is gaining valuable hands-on experience creating meaningful touch points. She also credits the Strategic Communication program with preparing her to succeed in this role. Through the programs coursework, she has developed the strategic mindset, communication skills, and confidence to contribute in a professional environment while continuing to learn and grow.

Our students are spending the season building skills, making connections, and gaining hands-on experience
This summer, Anthony Jeanmarie IV is interning with the Player 15 Group (Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, Valley Suns, and more) on the Global Partnerships Strategy & Service team in Phoenix, Arizona.

Through this experience, Anthony has strengthened his passion for using strategic communication and to create impact. Working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment has given him valuable experience in developing solutions that benefit both organizations and communities.

Anthony also credits the Strategic Communication program with preparing him to succeed in this role. Through coursework, collaborative projects, and real-world case studies, he has developed the strategic mindset, communication skills, and confidence to contribute in a professional environment while continuing to learn and grow.

A dedicated member of the Columbia SPS community, Dr. Visconti has made lasting contributions to both the School of Professional Studies and the Strategic Communication program through his leadership, teaching, and commitment to student success. Throughout his time at SPS, he has served in a variety of faculty and leadership roles, including Senior Lecturer and Chair of the Committee on Instruction, and was recognized with the SPS Dean’s Excellence Award for Faculty.

As the program begins this next chapter, we’re excited to see the SCOM community continue to grow under Dr. Visconti’s leadership. 🎉

inspired students, championed innovation, and helped shape a program that prepares
