The Campus Security and Public Safety Department strives to provide a safe and secure environment on the Hostos campus and within the community. Programs that include semin

ars on crime prevention and security procedures have been established, along with those conducted in conjunction with the New York City Police Department on subway safety, sexual assault, and confidence games. Nonetheless, each person must take the necessary measures for self-protection. Reducing personal vulnerability lessens the likelihood of becoming a crime victim. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with the sections dedicated to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Security Act. The Campus Security Act contains information which is mandated by the federal government. It contains policies and procedures which are dedicated towards promoting a crime free campus. The men and women of the Public Safety Service are held to the highest standards in achieving the level of professionalism the college community has come to expect and deserve. Our officers are expected to be involved in problem solving, training, communicating and if need be, enforcement of New York State laws and the rules and regulations under which The City University of New York operates.

Extension of 4 Day Summer Work Schedule

Please be advised that the 4-day Summer Work Schedule will be be extended for an additional week beginning Monday, August 10, 2015.

Annual leave will continue to be deducted accordingly if you chose to charge your leave balances instead of working extra hours during the week. Any pre-approved leave for Friday, August 14th, will also be charged to your leave balances.

The College is to resume the regular 5-day work schedule beginning Monday, August 17, 2015.

The first steps to combating this crime include taking it seriously, having an appropriate policy, and training campus personnel and public safety officers on how to effectively respond.

The Department of Public Safety can be reached at 718-518-6888 from any outside phone or cell phone. If dialing from a telphone on campus simply dial 6888 for non emergency situations and 6911 for emergencies.
